The Battle Belongs To God
We recount the story of King David facing the giant, Goliath, with only a sling shot (1 Samuel 45-49). The interesting point is that David resolved to conquer the giant, not in his power or strength, but IN THE NAME OF THE LORD.
David told the giant, "You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you IN THE NAME OF THE LORD...FOR THE BATTLE IS THE LORD'S. With that strong affirmation of faith, David defeated the Goliath using only a sling shot.
Another account of this high measure of faith is recorded in 2 Chronicles 20. In this chapter, we find the people, under King Jehoshaphat's leadership, frightened of a multitude of enemies. So, what did they do?
Jehoshaphat instructed them to FAST and PRAY. Subsequently, the Spirit of the Lord intervened stating, "...Thus says the Lord to you: Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, FOR THE BATTLE IS NOT YOURS, BUT GOD'S (2 Chronicles 20: 14-15). With that superior faith, they too prevailed!
What giants or multitudes are we facing today? (e.g., Difficult Studies? Unfair Professors? Peer Pressure? Finances? Jobs? Supervisors? Enemies? Racism? Sexism? Evil? Trouble? Fears? Worry? etc.) The Word of God through the testimonies of Kings David and Jehoshaphat instructs us that we can conquer the giants or the multitudes through prayer and faith, yielding all to God for THE BATTLE IS NOT OURS, IT'S THE LORD'S.
IN THE NAME OF JESUS, WE HAVE THE VICTORY!
Hope these few lines find you well!!!!
